John Hegley: Drawings of Dromadaires and Other Creatures
SproutSpoken is delighted to once again host national treasure, John Hegley, with his show - Drawings of Dromadaires (& Other Creatures).
A show suitable for the whole family and sure to be full of laughter and offbeat wordplay. Not to be missed!
This is a full-length version of this year's one-hour Edinburgh show and, according to John, is "sprinkled with an extra 30 minutes of material designed for children, but of interest to the odd 90-year-old"
Doors open: 6.45pm
Show Start: 7.30pm
Running time: 1 hour 50 minutes (including interval)
Please note that the venue is semi al fresco (canopy cover).
Hot food/snacks and licensed bar available.
Age guide: 9+
John says "Many of the crayoned creatures in this performance have been created over the last year or so. A pair of the show's 'desert ships' appear in the activities of Frenchman Monsieur Robinet alongside his canine companion, Chirac. Other dogs include that of American geologist Florence Bascomb who in her late 19th Century university days was thought to be such a distraction - and detraction - to fellow male students that she was obliged to continue her studies behind specially constructed screening. There is also D. H. Lawrence's tortoise, and a working illustration of the singing camel imagined by poet John Keats. Which song it will be singing is yet to be decided."
