SproutSpoken: Words in the Woods - a very special night of spoken word and performance poetry at Cardinham Woods, in association with intoBodmin.

The night features a specially-formed SproutSpoken Collective bringing a fantastic range of styles and themes from performers based in Cornwall who are building a formidable reputation. Join Hannah Temme, Kev Mud, Tyrone Burgin and Alissa Kindred for some of the finest words in one of the duchy's favourite woodland locations.

Hannah Temme is a poet, spoken word performer and community arts producer, whose words explores the interconnectedness between femininity and the natural world, the importance of highlighting climate breakdown, and the human experience of our shifting awareness.

Obscure and hairy… yet likeable: Kev Mud is just like that stray dog you wanted to keep when you were a kid, but your mum said no, because it accidentally knocked over a vase and relieved itself on the sofa. Touching on subjects such as man boobs, facial hair, and the Son of God, he also has poems that aren't autobiographical, is dashingly handsome and definitely didn’t write this himself.

Tyrone Burgin began his musical journey with his Dad introducing him to a diverse range of musical genres, styles and sounds which would plant the seed for where he finds himself now. Prepare yourself for a monster of passion, incandescent with rage and fury, spitting his tongue-twisting lyrics into a tapestry of truth. But there’s more – from primeval didgeridoo to his ethereal meanderings on the guitar you never quite know what you’re going to get.

One of the SproutSpoken regulars since its inception, Alissa Kindred makes work that touches on the profound and the profane in equal measure - surprising and disarming her audience with deft strokes as she weaves the everyday with the transcendent. Her recent performances include as part of Rob Drummond's Open Mic (Soho Theatre, London) the IWD Cabaret (The Acorn, Penzance) and support for Hollie McNish's recent gig in Newquay.

Hosted by SproutSpoken's Dicky Souray.
