The Details...

A specially-formed SproutSpoken Collective featuring Mimi, Jo Ogden, Sir Gent & David Matthews join a host of musicians and other performers presented by Restormel Arts at Smorgers Bistro in St Austell.

Don't miss the following artists at St Austell LIVE...

Mimi is a local actor and performer with a degree in Acting from the Arts University Bournemouth and an MA in Creative Writing from Exeter University. After stumbling upon SproutSpoken and being supported and encouraged to perform at one of their evenings, spoken word has turned into a fun new adventure for Mimi, allowing her love of performing and writing to come to life on pop up stages and spaces around Cornwall!

[appearing on the St Austell LIVE stage at 1pm]

Jo Ogden

Jo began dabbling in spoken word after moving from London to Cornwall six years ago. Missing the open-mic comedy scene of the big smoke, she needed another outlet to make people laugh. She finds the funny in the trials and tribulations of life and the strangeness of the everyday.

[appearing on the St Austell LIVE stage at 2.15pm]

Sir Gent

With a tongue firmly pressed in his cheek, Sir Gent brings a unique quick flow style with his "upper class" spoken word delivery. Often comedic, usually anachronistic, and occasionally satirical.  He is the man behind "A mug of dark stuff" and ‘The Worst Spoken Word’. Sir Gent's work charts subjects such as coffee addiction, seagulls, happiness and why not to watch Love island! With a collection of assorted Gentleman's headwear, "borrowed" from the British History Museum, and a slight whiff of steampunk, he is the very personification of just what a gentleman can be. Coming straight out of Manchester's spoken word scene; previously performing for Switchblade Poetry and former resident poet at Manchester's 'Why Not Cafe'. Sir Gent now brings his act to the fine people of Cornwall.

[appearing on the St Austell LIVE stage at 4.15pm]

David Matthews

A singer-songwriter known for his originality, humour and depth, and ukulele songs about internet dating, school refusers and personal growth, David Matthews lives in West Cornwall where he also works as counsellor and runs songwriting workshops for the soul.

[appearing on the St Austell LIVE stage at 7pm]

St Austell LIVE is funded by Tresorys Kernow and presented by Restormel Arts.
